What Is Interior Photography?

Interior photography is all about capturing the design, layout, and atmosphere of indoor spaces, whether it’s a home, a commercial building, or a heritage site. It’s a branch of architectural photography that focuses on the inside of buildings, showing how the spaces are used, how they connect, and the quality of the materials, lighting, and furnishings.

Interior Photography Services in the UK

I specialise in photographing interiors of commercial and residential spaces across the UK. Whether it's a stylish restaurant, a boutique hotel, a recently refurbished home, serviced offices, or an event venue, I bring out the best in every space. I focus on how rooms connect and flow, the interplay of textures and materials, and the quality of the design and craftsmanship.

Techniques that Elevate Your Space

To create distinctive imagery, I use a combination of advanced techniques, including multi-exposure blending and realistic HDR to overcome lighting challenges. I also offer basic styling, and for more extensive requirements, I can arrange for a professional interior stylist, especially if the shoot is intended for editorial or magazine publication.

Professional Equipment for Precision and Detail

I work with professional-grade digital cameras, including 45+ megapixel mirrorless systems and occasionally digital medium format bodies. I use tilt-shift and other specialised lenses to ensure precision and flexibility in composition. Lighting can be entirely natural to highlight your design schemes, or I can use portable studio lighting to enhance the space where needed. Sometimes, I intentionally use wide-angle tilt-shift lenses for dramatic effect.

Post-Production with Professional Standards

Post-production is carried out on high-end, colour-calibrated monitors by Eizo to ensure accurate and consistent results.

Serving the Design and Construction Industry since 2004

Since 2004, I've been working with architects, interior designers, developers, self-builders, lighting consultants, bespoke furniture and art installers, and many others in the construction and design industry. If you need striking, high-quality images for your marketing materials, I'd be happy to discuss your project.

Additional Services for a Complete Visual Package

In addition to interior photography, I also offer exterior photography and bespoke interactive 360° virtual tours to support your business promotion. Please visit the Architectural Photography and 360° Virtual Tours pages to learn more.

Investing in Innovation

I continually invest in the latest photography gear and technology to ensure I provide the best possible results.

Planning Your Interior Photoshoot

Understanding how you plan to use the final images helps ensure I achieve your goals. Whether the photos are intended for a magazine feature, your website, social media, or printed brochures, it's important to define your needs early on. If you're working with a web or graphic designer, I'm happy to collaborate with them directly.

Please provide the project location, an estimated date for when the space will be ready (ideally fully furnished, clean, and with working lighting), and details about what to prioritise or exclude. I typically shoot in a style consistent with my portfolio, but I'm flexible and can adapt based on references you provide.

Once I receive your brief, I'll send you a proposal outlining the estimated costs and timelines.

Pre-shoot Preparations

A designated contact at the location will help facilitate access on the day. If possible, please provide floorplans with key areas marked and any reference images or design documentation. These materials help me plan the shoot more effectively and understand the concept behind your design.

If the property is occupied, please inform residents or tenants in advance and obtain any necessary permissions.

On the Day of the Shoot

I aim to minimise disruption to regular activity and can often incorporate real-life use of the space to illustrate how it functions. I'll direct the shoot as needed to capture your project in the best possible light.

After the Shoot: Delivery & Archiving

After the session, I can share a digital contact sheet of the unedited images for your review. Once you've made your selection, I will edit the chosen images and deliver them in high resolution via a secure download link.

All final images are securely archived on both local and remote servers, so if you need them again in the future, just let me know. An invoice will be issued after delivery.
