Project
Overview

Urbanest Battersea is a bold reimagining of student accommodation, led by creative studio Acrylicize. Designed to inspire connection, creativity, and wellbeing, the project transforms everyday spaces into vibrant environments filled with meaning and character.

I was commissioned to document the entire creative scheme, from large-scale murals to intimate design touches, capturing how art and environment come together to shape a richer student experience.

Vision

Acrylicize set out to design a space that was expressive, inclusive, and grounded in the energy of young London. Every element of the project aimed to reflect the individuality of its residents while promoting sustainability, social interaction, and a sense of home.

My task was to translate this concept into imagery that could clearly communicate these goals to a wider audience. I worked to bring out the visual rhythm of the design, focusing on how materials, color, and artwork interact with the architecture.

Photographic
Approach

To represent the spirit of the space, I combined wide-angle shots that showcase flow and form with close-up compositions that highlight personal details. By using natural light and framing that feels immersive, I aimed to make viewers feel like they were walking through the space themselves.

From the lively mural spelling out SW8 Battersea to hand-painted prompts like “Don’t be sluggish,” every photograph tells a part of the larger story, one that celebrates both bold gestures and subtle interventions.

How Images
Were Used

Acrylicize featured this body of work extensively on their website as a key case study. My photographs were used to reinforce written descriptions of the design process, illustrate conceptual ideas, and show how the space functions in real life.

The images have supported the client’s storytelling not only on their site but also across presentations and marketing materials, helping them communicate the value of their work to future clients and collaborators.

Outcome

This project was a great example of how creative photography can serve as a bridge between design intent and audience experience. Capturing Urbanest Battersea meant more than documenting walls and walkways — it was about reflecting the spirit and purpose behind every artistic choice.

It was a rewarding collaboration that shows the power of well-executed visuals in bringing design stories to life.
